First off a big Welcome Home and Thank You to all
Korean War and Vietnam veterans the Unknown War and the
Unwanted War.
We only did our job as our government asked, in one case no one cared in the
other we were lied to but in both we all served with honor and gave our
all to the cause. When we came home no one cared, no one to meet us,
no government to help us. The Nam vets changed that by demanding what
was due them. True they called us cry babies because of this. But they
did get results, the Korean War vets got their monument the WWII vets
got their monument. Treatment for PTS was granted all vets, medical
treatment is better not great but better.
Just remember this:
It is the VETERAN, not the reporter, Who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the VETERAN, not the poet, Who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the VETERAN, not the lawyer, Who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It is the VETERAN, not the campus organizer, Who has given us the freedom to demonstrate.
It is the VETERAN, not the politician, Who has given us the right to vote.
It is the VETERAN, not the preacher, Who has given us freedom of religion.
It is the VETERAN, Who salutes the flag, Who serves beneath the flag,
And whose coffin is draped by the flag,
Who allows the protester to burn the flag.
